About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Jurnal Media, Pendidikan, Gizi dan Kuliner  is a peer-reviewed journal that promotes interdisciplinary research and development in the fields of nutrition science, culinary arts, food and health education, and educational media, with a particular emphasis on relevance to Indonesian educational and community contexts, but not limited by geographic boundaries in authorship or content.

The journal welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, educators, practitioners, and students—including senior researchers, research administrators, and postgraduate students—who are involved in the advancement of knowledge and practice in education, nutrition, and culinary studies.

Types of contributions accepted include:

• Theoretical and conceptual articles
• Empirical research studies
• Practice-based and action research
• Case studies and community-based interventions
• Literature reviews and educational resource reviews

All submissions will undergo a rigorous editorial screening and double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts must meet the journal’s standards in terms of academic quality, research ethics, language clarity, and adherence to citation and formatting guidelines.

Peer Review Process

Authors must submit manuscript through the system for being considered published in the journal published by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. For being published, manuscript must go through a peer review process (blind-reviewing process).

The acceptance or rejection of manuscript submitted by author(s) will be decided by the editorial boards, which is based on the review results. The first screening is the content/scope as well as the novelty from the article submitted, which is done by the editor. After passing the first screening, to get fair reviewing process, our journal usually proceeds each article with at least 3 reviewers: 1 internal reviewer (from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) and the others are external reviewers.

Important: There are no communications between authors and reviewers during the reviewing process. Also, there are no communications between authors and editors regarding the rejection decision.

Decision Categories:

1. Accept without any changes: The journal will publish the paper in its original form.
2. Accept with minor revisions: The journal will publish the paper and asks the author to make small corrections.
3. Accept after major revisions: The journal will publish the paper provided the authors make the changes suggested by the reviewers/editors.
4. Revise and resubmit: The journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision making after the authors make major changes.
5. Reject the paper: The journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions.

 

Publication Policies

Plagiarism Screening

Before going to review process, all manuscripts will be checked that they are free from plagiarism practice (less than 20% similarities). If there an indication of plagiarism (higher than 20% similarities), the manuscript will instantly be rejected.

Article Processing Charge

Media Pendidikan Gizi dan Kuliner is a fully open access international journal. Readers can read and download any full-text articles for free of charge (fully Open Access) in order to enhance the readibility and citebility of articles.

As Media Pendidikan Gizi dan Kuliner is a fully open access journal, your paper will be available to anyone, at anytime, anywhere in the world. Article Processing Charges (APC) apply for publication in this fully open access journal.

Article Submission Fee: Rp. 0

Article Processing Fee: Rp. 500.000,-

APC is effective starting from the article to be published in November 2026. Authors whose articles are accepted for publication will receive a Letter of Acceptance and APC Invoice.

Open Access Policy & Licensing

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

The published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Ethics Statement

(Based on Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) in the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Publication Process).

In the peer-reviewed journals published by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, the publication of an article is process of permanent knowledge improvement. The article submitted must be original that has never been published elsewhere in any language, as well as is not under review for publication anywhere.

Authors' Duties

Ensure originality, provide truthful scientific reports, acknowledge sources correctly, declare conflicts of interest, and report fundamental errors in published works.

Editors' Duties

Make fair publication decisions, maintain strict confidentiality, manage conflicts of interest, and investigate ethical complaints responsibly.

Reviewers' Duties

Conduct fair and confidential reviews promptly, acknowledge un-cited works, and avoid reviewing manuscripts with conflicts of interest.
